chasing cookies

H, V and their best bud J ran a quick 2k this morning. It was a Girl Scout Fundraiser, and while they are not girl scouts, they love the cookies! They got to meet the Jazz Bear before running, which I am SURE made them more pumped to run fast.
H ran it in 8 minutes flat. She was the 2nd woman overall, first kid, and came in 9th total. See what a cookie at the finish line can inspire this girl to do? AWESOME!!!

V and J ran it together. They came in at 13 minutes. J took first in the 15-18 girls and V took 2nd. Way to go girls!!!

Here they are with their prizes. H got a ton o' stuff from winning overall, She and J both got cookies(yummm!) and H also won the drawing for a free karate membership for a month. These 3 had a blast, and are already talking about when they are going to do their next race!

Brace Face

Dramaqueen FINALLY got her braces yesterday. She has been looking forward to this for longer than I can remember. She has had a few appliances and spacers over the last 6 months just to get to this place. She picked a pretty cool Orange and Blue pattern for this visit, and is already planning her summer colors.

fun and games with the EMT's

Dan is taking an EMT class to brush up on some hours that he needs to keep up his credentials. They had a pediatric night last week, so the girls went to lend a hand. They had a blast getting poked, prodded and strapped in. This is the second time they have done it, so they were pretty chatty with the classmates. I'm just afraid that if they ever really need to have this done, they will tell the paramedics "hey, that's not how it's supposed to be done...the strap is supposed to go HERE".

Crazygirl is back!

Crazygirl did her first real 5k today. We did one as a family last summer, but it wasn't timed. It was a pretty last minute decision, and she hasn't run since before her knee injury, so we weren't sure how she would do.
I don't know why we worried though, she did great! After the first mile, she was still in the top 20 overall, and ended in the top 40, 10th in the 13-15 age group out of a few hundred runners. She had to walk for a bit near the middle, due to her knee giving her some issues, so I am totally impressed she finished as well as she did! Highlight of course was seeing Cosmo!!!!!!

1st competition of the season

1st competition of the season and their studio did so well!!! Dancingqueen's team took 2 firsts and a second, and Bugs team took two firsts. Crazygirl was sad to have to sit this one out, but is looking forward to the upcoming competitions.
I think someone likes her costume.....

Hip Hop was their best of the night, they NAILED it!

Bug has so much fun with her friends on the team. They all adore each other, which is good, since they spend so many hours each week together. Competition season is so fun, we look forward to it all year!

Crazygirl is officially a teenager!

This post is about a week late, because we have been playing so much! Crazygirl turned 13, and her favorite "twin" cousin turned 13 the next day. He came up to visit from Ca, she wanted to take him snowboarding, but with her knee that was out of the question, so we took them indoor skydiving for their birthdays. What a blast! They had a great time. Can you believe he is younger than her? Believe it or not, she even outweighed him at birth by a couple of pounds. That didn't last long. He now outweighs her by about 70 lbs and about 9 or 10 inches of heighth!

A week before her birthday, she had a party with her best buds. They went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3-D (hence the glasses) then we hit Walmart at midnight for the sale of the New Moon DVD.

She had a blast, she has some great friends, who have all been together since they were really young. Some of the girls had to leave before this pic, so they aren't all in it.

I have no idea what time they went to bed, or if they ever did...I finally crashed around 2am and they were still watching the movie.

It's Benign!

We just heard back from her dr and it is just a benign mass on her tibula. Yeah!!!! He did some back research on Kawasaki's disease and has been comparing her old charts with new results. It looks pretty strongly like it is another side effect of the Kawasaki's disease she had a few years ago, and might flare up every now and then, but she can do what she wants when it starts feeling better. She only has to keep the leg immobilized for another week...yeah!!!! They are going to keep a watch on it, but for now all is well. I think I will sleep tonight!!! Thank you so much for your prayers...

update

The bone scan went well, she got a little sick after the IV, but only because it took a few tries and places to get it in. We get the results back from that and her lab work hopefully tomorrow. She has the cutest friends in the world, who have called, texted, brought her yummy shakes, balloons, flowers and stuffed animals. Amanda came and rescued her from the couch to go to their house for a bit for a change in scenery. Love Love Love our friends and family... you guys are incredible!
We talked to her dance studio today, she is going to sit out the competition at the end of March. She has been badgering all of her doctors to let her dance for the comp, and they were starting to cave, but she realized that it would be better to get healed all of the way before injuring herself further.
Now to get rid of this headache....

Prayers Please

Crazygirl has had some pain in her knee since January. It keeps getting worse, so we took her to the dr. He said it was runner's knee, and told us to keep her on 1600 mg of Advil every day and to ice it. That didn't feel right, so we took her to a sports medicine Ortho specialist. He said it is NOT runner's knee. He did x-rays and an MRI. We got the results from the MRI back today, he called and had us come down to the office, even though he had a full day. He tried to drain some of the fluid off of her knee to relieve some pressure, but wasn't really able to get much. (painful by the way...I thought she was going to scrape the paint off of his wall as she clawed at it with one hand, squeezed mine with the other and screamed. And that was for the numbing shot under the kneecap.) The MRI had an unidentifiable mass in her bone, near or in the marrow, so we have a bone scan tomorrow and did a bunch of lab work today. She is in an immobilizing cast right now, to see if it helps with the pain.
I will update as we hear. I know usually our blog is pretty lighthearted, but just not feeling that tonight. Maybe tomorrow, when the tests are done...
