BAM!

This is what happens when I leave my camera unattended on the kitchen counter. Well, this, and 52 pictures of stuffed animals in various poses, 3 pictures of the dog and one picture of what I am hoping is a fake tarantula posing on my laundry basket.

We love you President Hinckley

I found some pictures this morning from when President Hinckley came for the groundbreaking of the Sacramento temple. He flew in and out of the little airport that was literally in our backyard. Our good friend Mike was one of his security. A few families, including us, got to say goodbye to him before he flew back to SLC. Our kids got to sing for him, and he rolled down his window and had his driver stop and wait to hear them sing and then to talk to them. What an incredible moment for our family, and what a special memory, now that he is gone. We will miss you President Hinckley!

This is for you Auntie!

I'm so glad I am loved and missed! It's been a busy couple of days , doing a lot of nothing, and my wonderful auntie wanted to make sure we were still alive!
Pinkeye pete was nipped in the butt, I attacked it the first day with my leftover medicine. (Great, now you all know I do not follow the "discard immediately" directions on the bottle).
My eye was really sore for a few days, but never goopy...yea!
Dancingqueen had solo practice, we are preparing for competition season for dance...it's around the corner! I think the first competition is the beginning of March at Thanksgiving Point. Crazygirl was invited to practice with a competitive soccer team one of her friends is on. She has the soccer bug again. It might be a busy spring! Dramaqueen got a perfect score on her spelling test...something she has struggled with for the whole year... and Bug has her first loose tooth! She might need to be renamed dramaqueen! She was beside herself, one would have thought she was losing an arm. She won't let daddy come anywhere near her mouth to wiggle it...smart girl! That's about all that is going on, like I said, a whole lot of nothing! (and nothing makes me happier!)

out of the mouths of babes

Funny conversation heard between crazygirl and dramaqueen;

"why are they divorced?" (asked while watching a TV show)

"Oh, divorce is something that happens when the credit card bill gets too high"

And that ladies and gentlemen is why we paid off our cards!!!!

Pinkeye Pete strikes again

What adult in their right mind gets conjunctivitis? OH wait! Me. I have survived being the parent of 4 children. All have gone through or are currently in the Elementary school system. All have at one point or another in their lives gotten the dreaded pinkeye. No problem...I'm the mom, I see, I treat, I move on. Have I ever had it before, you ask? I'm sure I have... but I don't remember, and I have a VERY good memory, which means not in my adult life. So how did I get said pinkeye? I have NO FLIPPEN CLUE! That's right, not one of my children have it, no one I know has it. But wait, I thought it would be fun to get a side job at the school, one with no major side effects...except this. This is the 2nd time I have had it in a month. SO help me I am going to spray down every child and doorknob that comes within a 10 foot radius of me at work tomorrow. This is war!

Dancingqueen is getting published!

Dancingqueen was asked by her English teacher to submit one of her poems to a national contest and SHE WON! They only take 10 per state or region and she just found out she is one of them. She is so excited! It will take about 5 or 6 months to have the books made, so here is a little preview of her entry:
I am a girl who is the oldest on both sides of my family.
I wonder if I will go to BYU for college
I hear the footsteps of my children when I sleep.
I see three dogs flying in an airplane.
I want to be happy with my children.
I am a girl who is oldest on both sides of my family.

I pretend that I am a dear grandmother.
I feel the pain of people who lost someone.
I touch one of my little girls' faces.
I worry that the world will come to an end.
I cried when I lost someone dear.
I am a girl who is oldest on both sides of my family.

I understand the world will never be perfect.
I say that we should all be more kind to another.
I dream that I will be someone important.
I try to get along with my sisters.
I hope that we will live to see the year 2100.
I am a girl who is the oldest on both sides of my family.

'nuff said...you rock Dancingqueen!

Are you KIDDING me?

Crazygirl is really earning her name this week! We ALMOST made it to the one week mark of her concussion, when this beauty happened! We were at our neighbors house last night and Crazygirl was jumping around with her friend and came down wrong on her foot, heard a pop and a nice lump quickly formed. We iced it overnight and propped it, but it was bright blue this morning on the side and she still couldn't walk on it, so off to the Dr we went.Again.
For those of you keeping track that would be twice in 7 days. That might be a record, even in our family! She popped out a ligament(and no, that's not the official medical term for it) and has a severe sprain on the side. Good times! Let's hope next week is better. And that I get my money back from her basketball season that is not even half over!

Happy Birthday Bug!

Bug's birthday ended up being more low-key than we had planned. Saturday we went to the zoo for about an hour. We have never gone in the winter before. It was amazing how much more active the animals were! It was fitting, since Bug wanted a monkey/butterfly themed party. Try finding those party plates at Target. I'll give you a hint...they don't exist ANYWHERE! Her party is going to be next week, today we just did cake and presents from her sisters. I think she still had a pretty great day! It's crazy that our baby is 6 years old! No more car seats...yea!!!! Time is flying way too fast.

Bug caught a bug

Poor Bug is sick. Not the puke type of sick, but the really sad puppy dog look on her face type of sick. She came home from school with a wicked cough and a fever and has been asleep on the couch most of the afternoon. Not even the lure of french fries smothered in cheese could get her to be even a glimmer of her happy self. To make it worse, her birthday party is tomorrow and has had to be postponed. It doesn't get much sadder than that for an almost 6 year old.

Silly Boys!

So crazygirl likes to play with the boys at recess. Usually she can hold her own, but yesterday she got pushed into a playground pole. She ended up with a concussion and a trip to the ER. OUCH! She is quite grumpy today and we are both looking forward to her going back to school tomorrow! Apparently a few of her friends (read:lynch mob) let this poor little boy know in no uncertain terms that he doesn't mess with crazygirl. I think I feel more sorry for his loss of macho-ness than her head wound.

Away we go!

I have been having so much fun reading blogs from friends around the country that I thought I had better start my own! I feel a little selfish, being able to read all about their families without updating them on ours!

I am wife of Dan, mother of 4 beautiful girls, and this is our FOSTERVISION... don't worry, it's more Disney channel than prime time!
