Dramaqueen LOVES to sing. Her specialty is Opera. Too bad she doesn't know any operatic pieces. She makes do with currently popular pop hits, turned into Opera. Even that isn't quite right, because she doesn't exactly know all of the words to those songs either, so she just kind of makes it up as she goes along. My current favorite? "Shot through the heart, and you're too lame..." I think that is really how it was meant to be written.

Side note...if you are the middle aged man in the suit singing at the stoplight in your car and car dancing to "When I grow up" by Pussycat Dolls STOP . I can see you. As can the rest of the people at the intersection.

I've been tagged

Tags usually die with me...I'm just not that exciting. But, since it was my own MOM who tagged me, and Christmas is coming, I want to stay on her good side, so here goes...
3 joys: My Husband, my girls, and having the house to myself.
3 fears: having something bad happen to my husband. Having something bad happen to my girls. terminal illness.
3 obsessions: Dang 7 Wonders II game, Cafe Rio Steak Salad, smokin' hot vampires.
3 Things you never knew about me: I am actually REALLY shy. I'm a math whiz. A long time ago, in a body far, far away,I was on the track team and competed in HURDLES. (bet you didn't see that one coming!)
I now tag anyone who is reading this

Family Vay-Cay

So we should be on a plane right now, headed to Florida to board the Disney Cruise ship for 7 magical days and nights with my favorite roomie ever and her FUN family. About 6 months ago we cancelled our trip, and felt (and still feel) really good about it. I had forgotten about it until yesterday, when I looked at the calendar and noticed what was crossed out... Honestly, there is a bit of wistful sadness today. The whole "what if" factor of being on VACATION with the girls and totally relaxing as a family right now is so...needed...wanted...wished for!
I still stand by our decision, we had so much planned for this fall and winter that it would have been irresponsible to go right now. We are planning on taking the girls on the cruise really soon, so I am happy about the fact that we still have it to look forward to. So, any ideas on something fun to do this weekend? Our schedule is pretty wide open!!!!

Johnny Appleseed

Do you want a true insight into the intellectual discussions we have around our kitchen table? Are you sure you can handle the complexities of what I am about to share...afraid your family won't measure up somehow?
Cousin "A" " We studied about Johnny Appleseed today in school!"
Crazygirl : "Oh, I know a Johnny Appleseed! We used to call him Johnny Appleseed, because his first name is Johnny, and his last name is Appleseed."

Insert hysterical laughing HERE from Mom and Aunt.

The intellect of my child is dizzying

I can hear the academic scholarship people pounding down my door as I type.
Or maybe it's the crazy farm coming to take me away (after all, it IS National Disturbed person's day!)

Missing

One large plastic tote...orange with a black lid containing the world's coolest halloween decorations. Reward: seeing me happy again.
This is a sad day :(

Our daughter the felon

Dancingqueen went to a sleepover Friday night. While there, she did the obligatory t.p.ing of the cute boy's house. Apparently while t.ping said cute boy's house, one of the girl's dads (and birthday girl's sunday school teacher) came home from work...in his squad car. He is also very good friends with the birthday girl's dad, and they decided to pull a fast one on the group of girls. He came at them with his lights on and loudspeaker, telling them not to move, they were being arrested. Haha very funny, until she came home Saturday morning and told daddy," hey guess what, I got arrested last night!" The look on Dan's face was priceless. I should have videotaped the moment!
On a less stressful to Dan note, Dancingqueen also tried out for one of the solo parts of the upcoming choir concert and got one! Yea Dancingqueen! We are looking forward to the concert in October, it's a Disney themed concert, so it should be really fun to listen to. (At least I will recognize the songs!!!)

Close Election

recounts... hanging chads... mudslinging... kissing babies, it must be election year. FOR STUDENT COUNCIL!!!! Crazygirl ran for student council this year. There were 2 slots available. One of her best friends got a spot and then Crazygirl TIED with her other best friend. They took out all of the other candidates (not mafia style, this isn't Washington, it's grade school, come on!)) and held a second vote the next day between just the 2 girls. Can I just say, we moms were biting our fingernails...! They tied AGAIN, so the advisor let them both have it. PHEW! Watch out! Crazygirl and her two best buds are running the school. Mudslinging? Only on the playground! Kissing babies? These girls are obsessed with them. Best part is, after school the girls went right to work coming up with ideas to make the school year more fun and safe. Wish some other candidates would take cues from the 6th grade...if you're elected to do something, get right to work and DO IT!

Uncle Rob and Aunt Natalie came up for the weekend to have us meet 3 week old Evelyn. OH she is soooo perfect!!!! We had fun with Kamryn and Owen and getting all of the group together. We were just missing Dave and Audra's crew and Kris and Blain and crew. One day we will coordinate getting everyone at the same place at the same time...one day! 59-0

Is there any better way to spend a Saturday afternoon? BYU played UCLA, or maybe I should say "played with" as in "messed with"!!! FUN game to watch...for those in the dark blue. NOT so fun for those in , say, a lighter blue color!!!! Travis and Amanda got tickets from Paul and his dad, who couldn't go. So Travis and I traded tickets so that the boys could sit together and the girls could sit together! Confused yet? All you have to get out of that explanation is that the 5 of us had a blast!

We gorged ourselves on icees to keep cool.

Sitting over in manland...be grateful you get to see a shot of manland, Rebecca almost got taken out by a little old lady who "was trying to see the game here..."!!! while she was taking this picture for me!
After, we hit Macaroni Grill for some YUMMY Italian. Dan made friends with the manager and he brought over a complimentary platter of calamari. We had some happy boys!
